Communications
Options
In recent
years, Triton has been working diligently to develop alternative communication
methods for our ATMs. Triton was a pioneer in dial-up ATM technology,
allowing retailers the flexibility of purchasing a machine and keeping
maintenance costs affordable. The options outlined below are just
a few of the cost-effective methods Triton has developed. If the technology
is available in your area and is supported by a local processor, these
communication alternatives could create for you a more efficient,
more cost-effective ATM network. Your Triton representative or local
distributor will be happy to help you determine the best solution
for your area. |

DIAL-UP:
PERFECT FOR LOWER-VOLUME LOCATIONS.
Triton pioneered the use of dial-up lines to connect lower volume
ATMs - the same technology millions of people around the world use
today to connect to the Internet. For dial-up communication, an ATM's
modem dials the phone number of its host computer to facilitate a
connection. This method is convenient and, in most areas, less expensive
than a dedicated leased-line, making it the most common communication
method in the off-premise ATM market. |

Cellular
Digital Packet Data (CDPD) |
Get
leased-line speed at dial-up prices. The first to offer a CDPD protocol,
Triton knew it would be the best overall connection for our low to
mid volume customers. It's ideal because it is: |
-
Efficient
- Over a CDPD modem, your ATM will perform transactions quickly
with an average of only 3 seconds for authorization.
-
Inexpensive
- Because you only pay to transmit and receive small packets of
data, CDPD significantly reduces phone line costs
-
Secure
- The CDPD modem encryption ensures that data is secure as it
is transmitted over private data networks
-
Simple
to set up
- Simply turn your machine on and the terminal is ready to go
in any location with cellular coverage. You can even move it from
place to place for special events.

| Dial-up
access
Early ATMs were constantly connected to their host network over
leased lines. They were fast and efficient, but were too expensive
for most retailers to install and maintain. Triton saw the need
for a true dial-up solution that was still fast and reliable, but
which cut communication costs by more than half. The dial-up protocol
we created has been adopted by most major ATM manufacturers and
is the most popular type of communication for off-premise ATMs.
VSAT
If your business has a satellite connection; we can integrate your
ATMs with your existing infrastructure giving you incomparable speed
at a negligible cost. Our ATMs support both Hughs VSAT and GE Spacenet
protocols. |
